Unexpected Thanksgiving Tips And Tricks From a Fitness Coach

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and I am already dreaming of turkey, mashed potatoes, and stuffing. Thanksgiving is such an awesome holiday. You have so much food and literally stuff your face all day! Plus, you get to spend it with family and friends and be thankful for everything you have. Want to know one thing I am thankful for every year? My THANKSGIVING PANTS!

I’m not gonna lie to you and say I only eat a salad for Thanksgiving. I feel like NO ONE can do that! So here are some realistic tips and tricks to enjoy Thanksgiving and realize we are all gonna have tight pants!

Tip #1: Loosey Goosey

When you are planning your Thanksgiving outfit. Which always is a process. Even though 99.9% of the time, everyone is sitting on couches watching football. Plan accordingly for the amount of food we all enjoy during the day.

Wear your loose pants. Leggings or low-rise jeans are my favorite options. They do not cut into the stomach and allow room for your stomach to expand (which it will) from all the delicious appetizers, turkey, sides, and desserts! It is totally normal to eat the foods you love and you want to be comfortable while you do it!

Tip #2: Go with the flow

This Thanksgiving tip goes perfectly with #1. If you are uncomfortable or self-conscious (which you shouldn’t be) about the way your stomach will look after enjoying all the delicious foods Thanksgiving offers. It is best to wear a flowy shirt, not a fitted one. This way you can pack your plate and pile on the desserts without worrying about what you will look like after!

Flowy shirts also allow for easier movement. So you can help serve and clean up before and after dinner as well! I bet your mom, grandmother, aunts, uncles, whoever did all the preparing and cooking will love the extra hand!

Tip #3: It’s never too early for a holiday sweater

Holiday sweater parties are all the rage right now and although I am not one to rock these ugly fashion statements. They are great for hiding the Thanksgiving bulge. From cats in Santa hats, to snowmen with their carrot noses, there is a holiday sweater for any type of humor level and family gathering. Be careful with what you choose. You don’t want to upset grandma!

Grab yourself an oversized funny holiday sweater from a store or online. Rock it with some leggings and invite your family and friends to do the same. Maybe it will even become a family tradition!

#4: Just unbutton the pants

If all else fails and you still are very full and uncomfortable after dinner and dessert. Just unbutton that top button on your jeans and wear that badge of honor proudly. I promise it is going to make everyone else in the room feel more comfortable about the amount they ate and how they are feeling about themselves as well! If you are showing confidence in your eating and food choices. Others will feel confident too!
