What you need to know about carbs to lose weight

There is still so much negative talk about carbs.

I thought this was a dying misconception but actually so many people still bring up their fear of carbs to me.

Have you ever had the thoughts

❗Carbs will make me fat

❗Will carbs make me gain weight

❗Carbs are bad for me

❗Carbs will prevent me from losing weight

❗ Which carbs should I never eat

❗Carbs go right to my fat

These are old and debunked statements. But you may find words of your mother or grandmother sticking with you.

Also, what if you're trying to lose weight, isn't cutting carbs a good option?

Im going to come back with a hard no.

Carbs are in fact

🌟 Necessary for energy

🌟 Help you gain muscle

Let talk about how carbs work👇

Your body breaks down carbohydrates into glucose. Glucose, or blood sugar, is the main source of energy for your body's cells, tissues, and organs. Glucose can be used immediately or stored in the liver and muscles for later use.

What are the different types of carbohydrates?

There are three main types of carbohydrates:

Sugars. They are also called simple carbohydrates because they are in the most basic form. They can be added to foods, such as the sugar in candy, desserts, processed foods, and regular soda. They also include the kinds of sugar that are found naturally in fruits, vegetables, and milk.

Starches. They are complex carbohydrates, which are made of lots of simple sugars strung together. Your body needs to break starches down into sugars to use them for energy. Starches include bread, cereal, and pasta. They also include certain vegetables, like potatoes, peas, and corn.

Fiber. It is also a complex carbohydrate. Your body cannot break down most fibers, so eating foods with fiber can help you feel full and make you less likely to overeat. Diets high in fiber have other health benefits. They may help prevent constipation. They may also help lower cholesterol and blood sugar. Fiber is found in many foods that come from plants, including fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, beans, and whole grains. (medlineplus.gov)

So you can see there are so many reason for carbs.

I have worked with countless people over the past few years. Every single person I have ever had start to incorporate more carbs. Lost weight or inches. Because our body needs them.

So how many carbs should you eat? This is very dependent on your goals. But it can range from 45% to 65% of your total daily calories.

Signs that you're not eating enough carbs are

❗Fatigue, weakness or dizziness

❗Inhibit athletic performance

❗Constipation

❗Your body may produce sugar on its own and store that sugar to "prevent starvation"

Did you hear that? If you don't give your body enough carbs your body may in fact hold on to fat 😳

I hope this brought clarity on how important carbs are. To give you an example of my person success with incorporating more carbs. I had a period in my life where I had an unhealthy relationship with food and would cut everything out and run a lot. I got to the point where I looked sick I had no energy and was super irritable all the time. It wasn't until I almost doubled my carb intake that I looked and felt amazing. I had so much energy and I felt great in my clothes and on the beach.

It takes breaking out of old molds and false thoughts. Take the leap and eat some carbs 🙂
